Domain Masking Did you know that one of the common trends among very successful affiliate
marketers is that they purchase domain names – for EACH affiliate program
they promote? It’s true.
DineWithoutWhine.com is obviously a great affiliate program. With our new
video launching, it is the perfect opportunity to buy a domain that you
can use to tell your friends and family about our heartwarming free video
about bringing families together at the dinner table. The video is at
www.familydinnervideo.com if you haven’t seen it.
If you are committed to promoting DineWithoutWhine and you want to make
money with our affiliate program, then you may consider purchasing your
own domain for that purpose. There are no hosting fees, only a small
one-time fee through the domain registry to set up this type of forwarded
domain.
How would this benefit you?
People will take you more seriously if you ask them to visit a “real”
domain rather than one that looks like a long mish-mash affiliate link.
If you mask the domain (and we’ll show you how), then everyone who goes to
that site will see YOUR url at the top of the page (where you’d type a
link).
Example One: You send a traditional affiliate link of the video to Bob and
he sends it to Jane. Jane watches the video and thinks “This is great. I
should IM this to Sally!” So, like most people, she goes to the top of the
page, and copies and pastes the URL that’s there – which is
www.familydinnervideo.com – rather than your affiliate link which
disappears after they click it. Therefore you lose credit for all the
following sales from Jane’s friends. (If you have a redirect in place like
www.dinewithoutwhine.com/yourname -- this will also happen. Try it. Click
your own redirect and see what’s at the top of the page.)
Example Two: You decide to purchase your own URL and mask it. We’ll call
the domain www.shnickle.com – (although that would be a silly name) –
then, when Jane wants to share the video and copies the URL to the video
to send it to her friends -- it still says shnickle.com on the top! YOU
get credit for all the sales when her friends buy DineWithoutWhine
memberships. And, when her friends forward the video, you get credit for
those sales as well.
So, how do you proceed?
Nicole Dean of www.WebTrafficBasics.com has put together two audios to
walk you through the process of buying a domain and forwarding it. We
asked her to provide this training because she has a way of explaining
things simply – without getting too technical.
Here’s how to buy a domain –
We’ve come up with a list of words to help you brainstorm your domain
name. Combine them however you’d like:
Dinner, Meal, Meals, Moments, Family, Together, Video, Movie, Time, Family
Time, Dinner Time, Meal Time, Table, Talk
Go to www.godaddy.com and then listen to this audio where she will walk
you through the process.

Once you buy your domain, then listen to this audio to learn how to easily
forward it in under 4 minutes –
